When these questions come up on here, I advocate talking to your local Tourist Information office. They keep lists of accommodation providers and are a fount of useful knowledge. They will know what the going rate is for your area and whether or not it will let. They may well also pass on referrals to you, although they charge a percentage for this.
This isn't true everywhere. A lot of Tourist Boards and booking offices are a members-based clique-set of local businesses who fund and run the service. If you don't join/don't meet their member standards, you can't join, so can't use the service.

Thanks for all the useful replies. PN- some scary examples indeed!

I thought of it as a quick fix for 2 months till the students start looking- its not really our target market but give some hope. The last couple moved out early so June will be our first month with no rental income. Savings will have to pay the gap.
So, the quick fix, I was thinking ebay, as we had 2 nice hols from off season homes from there. Any thoughts?

We did holiday lets for a few years, look at Hoseasons for ideas about prices. Must have insurance and pat tested portable appliances plus the electric cert must be less than 5 years old, not 10 as some think!
We had no real problems or damage and most renters were business not holiday people.
