My husband and I want to open a savings account for our grandson, can anyone recommend a good account? Thanks

don't bother with a savings account - start a pension for him - even just £20/month for the next 20 years would be a great start for the lad

Assuming the grandson is still very little, I agree, savings account is probably not the best choice. But it doesn't have to be a pension, which will be locked away until the grandson is 55 (or older, if the rules change).
A S&S JISA, or other investment account, could be more appropriate.0 -
You might consider an investment trust regular saving plan in bare trust - example here. http://www.sit.co.uk/products/investing_for_children/features/how_to/0
