Canon EOS Utility; Problems downloading images

Options
Can anyone please advise. My camera ( Canon EOS 650D) Isn't downloading images to pc. It did before. I keep getting the message "no images in camera or card that match download conditions". There are loads of raw images that haven't previously been downloaded. I can view them on the camera but the software isn't recognising them. I've tried the camera wizard too but that doesn't find them either. If the Canon software doesn't work is there another programme I can use? I need to clear the memory card.
Thanks in advance

Have you tried using a card reader? You can get them from Amazon or one of the big supermarkets for about a fiver plug it in to the computer slip in the card and your images should appear on the screen

Copy the images to your PC using drag and drop in Windows Explorer and use the GIMP and UFRAW to edit them (they are both free) http://www.gimp.org and http://ufraw.sourceforge.net/

then if you are happy you are happy to use them, then you can clear the card (using the camera)

As someone who has used these, I can vouch for copying the files to your hard drive and using anything but the canon utilities.

Thanks, I've been looking at card readers. All the ones I've seen seem to handle up to 8gb. My card is 32gb. There isn't even 1gb on it at the moment. How does it work?. Does it go off the potential capacity of the card or what's actually on it?

You don't need one use the usb cable with the camera.
The camera will present itself as a removable drive in Windows Explorer.....

I use Google Picasa (free) to import and edit pics. Use a USB cable from the camera if you don't have a card slot on the front of your PC

Just click on 'IMPORT' in the programme once installed

PS put a name on the Pics in Picasa to finish importing

32GB card suggests it's SDHC card, your card reader might be just an SD card reader (they look identical to SDHC cards, but are only compatible one way). I had to buy a new card reader for SDHC cards to use with my Canon DSLR, few quid, no big deal. The cards would not read in the old PC SD card reader.

    Could be the same thing?

thanks, downloaded Picasa. I'ts picked up all the photos already on the pc and uploaded them. However, it doesn't recognise my camera. The only options for import are scanner and folder. My computer isn't picking up the camera either. As for Canon software, I had a feeling it wouldn't accept the raw files. Should do it came with the camera. I took a few pics in JPEG and they transferred straight away. I checked on Picasa and it does accept Canon raw files. Looks like I either shoot in JPEG or buy a card reader. Having looked on the net, there are lots of problems with Canon software.
