Hi all.
firstly i hope i have posted this in the correct forum.
I was hoping to get a little advise about our home insurance/possible subsidence claim.
we have been fighting this for 3/4 year stating that we think that we have subsidence but yet felt as though we where being fobbed off.
cutting a long story short we insisted that they did a course of foundation level monitoring and to no surprise of ours the house had dropped 5mm..
we then received a letter telling us that we have a subsidence claim now open and they loss adjusters will now start the mitigation process.
they can not find the cause of the movement and after 6 months they asked to do a further 6 months monitoring.
which brings us to date.
the final reading actually indicate that the house has dropped in some areas but has also risen 1mm in others,
will this still be classed as movement or could they say that it is recovering?
Many thanks

I think this is a tad difficult for an internet Insurance forum. What you really want to be able to do is post up details of a report and pictures to a forum where there are surveyors/structural engineers.
I think there will continue to be monitoring to see how the site is moving, as currently they would say that it is within acceptable tollerances.
If there was movement in a particular area more than another, I would suggest a CCTV drain test to see if there is any leakage, which is causing a problem.
Are there any trees near the property ?
Any property development in the area within recent years ?
Are you on a sloping site ?
Is the property in or near an old mining area ?
Any other properties where you live with a subsidence issue ?
Has your connected neighbour any issues ?The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
