Dell Latitude memory

I have a Dell Latitude D600 laptop with 2 256 MB of memory in it.

If I buy a 1 GB stick of memory can I also use one of the 256 MB of memory to give me 1.256 GB of memory?
Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:

Yes but you would be better off putting at least 2GB in it.

I have decide to do that. Just ordered a couple of 1GB from Ebay.

After I am finished with this laptop I wonder how it will compare to my Kindle Fire HD, which my wife has stolen, for reading books?

If I could get a cheap IDE SSD I would install that as well.

Not unless it was cheaper used RAM. Certainly wouldn't spend £40 upgrading that old machine.

But cost doesn't matter when it is a hobby doing up old computers.

    And I didn't pay £40.

Even if I did, I can spend more than that on a night out.

Cost doesn't matter?? It's hardly a rare antiquity. It's your money, but this is a money saving website.
I didn't write that it wasn't worth upgrading. I wrote that I wouldn't spend £40, but I would use cheaper used RAM.
