which travel insurance?

Options
i have used post office(fortis insurance) for our annual travel insurance policy for years, unfortunately i have to declare a pre-existing condition now, that puts the policy up from £137 to £244 so its time to shop around.
i have trawled through the forum and internet to look for alternatives, there seems plenty of companies that cover pre existing but reading reviews there are some horror stories from people who have had to make a claim (nothing to do with pre existing conditions)
i thought i had cracked it with L&V £150 that fully covers me and my OH, but then they want £43 to add my young grandson who i am taking on holiday for 1 week.
has anyone any experience/advice on which is a decent company, one that in the unlikely event we had to make a claim for whatever reason are helpful, effecient and pay out without months of trying to wriggle out of it.

I have 3 pre existing medical conditions which I told LV about. They weren't the cheapest but people did appear to rate them. Having read on MSE how good they were I decided to go ahead and book my single travel insurance with them. Two months before the holiday I had a small accident which meant I had to make a claim. LV were polite, helpful, reassuring and efficent. Within 4 days of receiving the claim they phoned to say I would be paid in full.

I can't fault them. You only know how good a company is when you make a claim and I don't see how they could be better.

thanks poc, thats the type of information i was looking for.
L&V do seem reasonable priced and competitive compared to others that cover pre existing conditions, but my grandson is 11 so cannot go on a single policy and £43 seems expensive for 1 week cover in europe for a child.
insureandgo are the cheapest but reviews not too good
i only have 1 pre existing and its very unlikely to cause any problems but better to be safe than sorry so i best get covered
