You'll get there HH. My June has been a bit like that too.
I got the unhappy realisation the other day that my boiler may need replacing as its nearly 10 years old and has started to play up. That may just wipe out my savings before I've got going.

    We'll see!

Once again I've not been here for a few days. It's been a very hectic week off work and I didn't really manage to get as far with sorting the finances as I hoped.

It was my other half's birthday this weekend so we had a few people round for a BBQ. The weather held out and I must admit that I am paying the price for too many drinks and too little sleep!

We did another parkrun this weekend. I'm enjoying exercising outside rather than in the gym a lot more than I thought I would and saving myself £40 a month from what I was paying at the gym. Who knows if I will still be saying this come winter! :rotfl:

I have still been doing the usual small MFW bits-a few swagbucks here and there and a couple of £2 coins in the pot. I am back at work tomorrow so will chase up my missing expenses. No overpayments to report I'm afraid. I'm hoping to get back on track come July.

Well my expenses have finally shown up so a small overpayment of £25 has been made. Not much else to report. It's been a hard week back at work following a week off. I'm definitely glad it's Friday. Enjoy your weekend everyone :)

Well this morning I have done a 5k parkrun. It feels good doing it each Saturday morning and I have also been running in the week too. I definitely feel the decision to give up my gym membership has been a good one.

We receive a belated anniversary card this morning which had £20 in it. We have put it in the terramundi pot. I've earmarked the funds from his pot to go towards redoing our lounge-now just to convince my husband!

As always, I've earnt a few swagbucks.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend

Just a quick check in although nothing much going on as far as overpayments are concerned. It was payday yesterday so all money has been shuffled round today including £150 payment to OH's mum and dad. He mentioned that he seems to have a bit of surplus money left each month so he is intending to ploughs this into paying them back. He says he's definitely on board to get the mortgage overpaid once his mum and dad are paid back. Am off to do a bit in the garden whilst the weather's ok.

Although I am at work for another couple of hours, I'm very glad it's Friday. I'm really looking forward to the weekend. I have a couple of things planned and will be hoping to catch some Glastonbury coverage as well as the British Grand Prix.

Parkrun in the morning and hoping to take a few seconds off my pb (which is pretty slow!). The weekend should be low spend although I am hoping to pick up a birthday present for my mum however this is already budgeted for.

I have just TT £2.74 as an overpayment :T

    Enjoy your weekend everyone

Well we had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the sunshine. Back to the grind now though. Over the weekend we bought tickets for a music festival which is being held in August. Whilst this was an unplanned expense, it's something we are really looking forward to. The money has come out of our monthly personal spends. Money may be a bit tight for the rest of the month so I will have to try hard not to fritter any away.

On the MFW front, I have earned a few swagbucks, some money has been paid to me by topcashback and quidco and my OH is very on board with getting his mum and dad paid back ASAP. At the rate we're paying them back currently, it will take 2.5 years to pay back the remaining £10000:eek: ideally I'd like to get it paid off in less than 2 years. We'll see...

Hope you are all having good weeks.

  • You're doing really well HH. I'm impressed with the money that you are earning from swagbucks. I did sign up to a load of survey sites but never seem to get chance to do enough of them to make it worthwhile! :p I am in a similar position to you in that we also owe money to family members although it's the sum of £4000 instead of your £10000. It's really hard isn't it because I find I just want to OP as much as possible and I forget that some of the money in the accounts isn't mine!
    Keep plugging away. :D

Thanks feelingfestive. I feel like we are getting there slowly but surely (slowly being the operative word!). It will feel like such a weight lifted once we have the £10000 paid back. I hate owing people money.

I have made a small overpayment of £15.20 having received some expenses at work.

I hope everybody is enjoying the good weather. Unfortunately I am stuck at work at the moment, but I'm looking forward to finishing in a few hours.

I'm not quite sure how 10 days have managed to pass since I last posted!

We have been enjoying the good weather which has meant plenty of walks and not too much money spending which is good :)

My car went in for its MOT yesterday and needed only new wiper blades so the total bill came to just under £50 which was less than budgeted for. My car has passed it's MOT the previous 2 years so I wasn't expecting such good luck yesterday!

Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine
