Credit reports for Rental Agency

Me and my partner are renting together for the first time, and have just found a property that we would like to move into. The agency is one I have rented from before but they have told us that some practices have changed since some new legislation means they cannot charge a fee to set everything up. Instead we must produce a list of certain things for them ourselves.

In this list is a credit report. Now using the MSE website, I found equifax and have signed up for the free 30day report trial, but I have no idea what part, if any, is suitable for passing to the rental agency!

Does anyone have any experience with giving rental agencies credit reports? What are they looking for?

I wouldn't provide them with a credit report. It's none of their business (it has more detailed financial information than they need to know). If they want to do one, they can (but it won't check much - bankruptcies, CCJs and address history).

The issue they might be referring to is having to make clear all fees they will be charging. So, they can charge a "credit check" fee, but have to make it clear how much they are charging for that.

You might want to try another letting agent if they are so... odd.
