We were there in April and it was in the low 70s, plenty warm enough to walk around in Tshirts, but jackets or jumpers at night.
We've also been to Benidorm (forgive me Lord) in November and the weather was really nice then.
Lovely old town in Alicante for tapas (small bites of different things) and a nice way to spend the evening. Also lots of places to eat around the Port/Harbour ... didn't get into the "new" town of Alicante much, too big for my small brain to take everything in. Lots to explore and do though and the Tram on your doorstep to venture further afield.
Try Trip Advisor and Lowcostholidays for the best hotel deals if you fancy it.
Hmmm .. might go back myself now if I can persuade hubbie to get off his bum .. lol...!Normal people worry me.0 -

Thank you for this. It sounds just the kind of place we'd like.
We prefer a place to have a bit of character, a bit of history, culture, what makes a different country worth visiting i.e. not eat food from own country, speak own language, meet no one except own nationality!
Hubbie getting off bum - well, DH doesn't walk very well because of damage following spinal and knee surgery. The tram sounds fun! When we went to the Algarve some years ago we hired a car, but because of advancing years the cost of this is getting prohibitive. My original thought was: fly from local airport that we've seen grown from almost nothing (although it has a long history back to WWI) and get some warm - not hot - sunshine. Since I came up with the name Alicante, it sounds as if we could have a very nice late holiday, doing the kinds of things we liked.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Hope you enjoy it if you decide to go.
I also have back problems, but there's a lovely flat promenade to walk along with plenty of seating so I was OK with that.
Santa Barbara Castle is worth exploring - and there's a lift up to it (free to those of ..ahem.. more senior years).Normal people worry me.0 -

Thank you for this! Yes, this sounds like the kinds of things that we'd enjoy. I am reliably informed that the more senior age-groups are a big market, and not all of us are interested in package holidays/cruises/coach tours where you get picked up and have no control of it all after that. In fact, to us such holidays would be a recipe for hell! We drove down the Rhine valley 5 years ago and didn't see another UK number-plate until we got to the Bodensee.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
