It is not just the internet
There have been other problems which are a bit long to get into.
However, none of the other problems and finding out he gave incorrect information could have been detected until after I moved in.
I would risk loosing my deposit, to be honest. But my only concern is, will I get a bad credit score?
Thanks again everyone! It really helps to get some advise on this forum.
The problem is that 'other problems' could mean anything so there isn't much people can do to help if they don't know if the problems are anything illegal or just inconveniences. Other problems could mean 'noisy neighbours' or it could mean 'the property is infested with cockroaches'. I expect you'll get more help and better advice if you can at least detail what the problems are.But while these problems sound small to you, I am done with estate agents being able to tell tenants whatever they like to get the contract signed and we tenants have to simply suck it up.
Having been lied to upon signing contract doesn't sit well with me at all
hence why I am simply asking these questions and with some helpful replies has given me something useful to think about.
The problem with this is that it doesn't matter if you're 'done with' the estate agents or if the situation 'doesn't sit right' - Unless the property has something wrong with it that makes it unsuitable for you to live in (e.g. bedbugs, is an illegal conversion, no fire doors or whatever) you cannot simply stop paying rent and move out. In fact, doing so could have a detrimental affect on you as while it may not affect your credit score and the estate agents might not bother chasing you through the courts for it, it may affect your ability to find another property to rent.
Personally, I would take the offer the Estate Agents have given you and do everything you can to help them find another tenant. Take this as a learning experience (I know my first terrible rental was a learning experience for me!) and make sure you get things written into your contract before signing anything, in future.0
