hi, this is a bit of a long shot but maybe one of you can help!
i have just bought a 2004 renault megane :D but unfortunately it doesnt have the handbook with it.
the computer thing says 'automatic lights de-activated' and i cant work out how to re-activate them. them is a button at the end of the lights switch 'stick' that says auto on it but i cant get it doesnt seem to do anything.
i love gadgets and cant bear the thought of having one i cant use,
thanks, vix

It never worked well on the early cars it was to sensitive and was revised on the face lift model from 2006.

Hold the button in for a few seconds when the car is stationary and the auto lights function will turn on or off.

The sensor for the autowash and lights is built in to the rear view mirror. Unfortunately like the HT leads, auto door handles, this sensor is prone to failure.

Our Megane had the autolights, if I remember rightly it was to hold the button down whilst stationary to turn them on & off.

We had a hired megane which didn't have autolights.

Try asking here. In the ownership problems forum. From memory, if it has autolights it should also have autodimming mirror.

I'd advise getting breakdown cover if the car didn't come with Renault Assist (AA cover). The AA vans carry Megane coil packs as these fail a lot!
  • if I can remember back to my renault days try this:

    put card key in slot
do not dip clutch or accelerator but push the start/stop button (this should just turn on electrics
press and hold down the auto button until it says auto lights activated

let me know if this helps
