How do I email an image?

Hi Folks
A few days ago, my son took a photo on his ipod.
He now wants to store it on the PC and email it to his friend as an image (rather than an attachment).
Could someone please explain how this is possible?
Thank You.

Transfer it onto the pc in the normal way, using whatever software you desire/normally use.
As for emailing it, what's wrong with sending it as an attachment? That said, if it's inserted into the body of an email chances are it'll be attached anyhow. What email program/service will be used?
It could be easier (and lighter on the inbox!) if you use a service like http://tinypic.com or http://picasa.google.com/ and share the link to the photo via email.

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
I don't really want to send it as an attachment because my friends very often say that they can not open the attachment. Would that be due to the format in which I have originally saved it?
How would it become attached if I just insert it in the body of the email?
Thanks0 -

Most web based, and I believe desktop, email clients will add it as an attachment automatically when you insert the image into the body of the email. The photo will be displayed in the email, but it's actually showing the attachment. I don't know if I'm explaining this very well, basically, the photo still needs to be sent with the email to enable it to show, so most clients will send it as an attachment.
As for not being able to see the image, that could well be the problem in that you've sent it in a weird format. Generally speaking, .jpg is a good format to send in, as pretty much any computer will be able to open it. Once you've transfered the image over to the pc, right click it within windows (assuming you're using windows!) and select properties. If the file extension (the bit after the name, .raw for example) is anything other than .jpg, you'll maybe need to convert it to a more recognisable format before sending it.
http://www.fixpicture.org/ is handy for converting images to .jpg0 -
depends more on what email software the recipient uses - for security reasons most may restrict how attachments are handled (prevent virus \ scripts being run!).
As for getting it on the PC, configure photo stream in the icloud settings will allow pics to wireless transferred to the pc when the ipad is being charged and has a wifi connection..Hi Folks
