Hi
I am looking to book a hotel for one night on the 22nd of June, this year, to take my better half to a concert at the Etihad Stadium.
Being a numpty I have not thought about booking a hotel for the night, to make the day complete.
Now I am looking, everything seems booked up or sky high, I should have booked earlier.
Anybody local with an idea where I could stay, I will have to pay a little more than I would have liked, but as the tickets are booked, I need something rather than messing around driving home after.
Something with straightforward access would be great, I presume walking would not be possible or the prices would be to high, but a bus service to somewhere nearby would be fine.
Thanks for any help.
Martin

Both Ibis hotels in Manchester are showing availability for those dates. They're not too far from Piccadilly station, the stadium is 20 minutes walk from there. Might also be buses to save the walk.

How are you getting to Manchester? If you are driving, there are some nice hotels out of the city centre (usually cheaper) but are only 10 minutes drive away.
You'll be lucky to get under £200 a night per room in manchester city centre on a Saturday night, unless you book 6 months in advance.0 -
The ethiad is now on the Metrolink so you can stay anywhere in the greater manchester area that is connected to the metro e.g. Altincham, Bury, Oldham, Eccles, Chorlten. You should find a cheap hotel somewhere around there. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Hi
Thanks cte1111 for the link to Ibis, I will keep those in mind, if nothing else is available, I may book one of those, more than I wanted to pay, but so be it.
DomRavioli, we will be driving to Manchester, I was considering booking something just out of the centre of Manchester, but not knowing the area, I was not sure where to book that had good bus or train routes, rather than take the car to the concert, just wanted to avoid hitting the traffic afterwards.

Thanks goater78, that is the kind of local information I was looking for, so if I book something on the Metro Link, I should be able to get a tram back?, that sound much better,I will have a trawl round again.

Yep, last tram from manc on a Saturday night is around 12:45am I think. So you should have no trouble getting to an out of town location. The direct route from the Ethiad is to Bury. However everything changes at Picadilly station so you can quite easily stay anywhere on the network.
The further out you go the cheaper it will be for instance this place

Is £55 a room and is by Timperley metro station (5 minute walk). A return tram station to the Ethiad is about £4 from there I think and will take about 30 minutes. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thanks, that looks a good idea, I have been having a quick look at the metro map and I think we can cope with that.
I presume the trams on the way back may be busy, but I suppose they allow for that.
Just a quick cheeky question, I am right in thinking the tram from Altrincham will stop at Picadilly and then we board another tram to Ethiad, can we buy one ticket return, and is it straight forward to find the tram we need once we are at Picadilly.
Thanks again for the help.

Yes everything is very simple. You'll buy a return to ethiad from timperley. If the tram says bury you get off at market street and wait for the one marked droyslden.
If the tram says Piccadilly you get off at Piccadilly station and wait for the tram marked droyslden. It's very simple to change.
If its busy afterwards it may be a good idea to walk into town (takes 20 minutes) and then catch a tram from town.
This is what I do after every city game. It's very simpleThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thanks very much for all you help and of course the directions :T, I think I will book that tonight, best double check with the boss first, but seems perfect for what we need.
Thanks again
