To be fair to OP, £130k isn't a huge amount to live the middle class dream on in London.
£300k mortgage over 25 years £2k pa (60% mortgage on £500k place)
Bills (inc council tax) £500pm
School fees £1500 pm per child
2 y/o BMW X5 repayments @ 7% £1k pm
Organic box delivery + groceries £500 pm
So £5,500 pm before saving or luxuries if you have 1 child. Or £175k pa gross roughly. Add 10-15% for pension. Say £200k pa.
