Tango app not working

I'm in the UK and I'm trying to talk to my friend in Majorca with the Tango app. I have a Samsung Galaxy W and they have a Samsung Galaxy Ace. When I call, it just says that they are not answering and they tell me at their end it says "emergency calls only".

Can anyone help?

Emergency calls only usually means they aren't connected to a network, but the phone is still in range of a signal, so can make emergency calls.

Has your friend used the phone before over there? Could be that roaming isn't enabled.

If they are not set up for data roaming they need top get into Wi-Fi range somewhere, usually a cafe, and get set up. They may will not be roaming, it is so expensive a regular phone call might be cheaper.

I've told them not to use it on 3g, only when in a wifi hotspot. In which case, you don't need data roaming switched on surely, do you?

Are the people in Majorca based there permanently - Are their phones registered with a Majorca based phone company?
