Overpay mortgage with credit card?

Hi all,

I have £10,000 in my current account which I want to use to overpay my HSBC mortgage. I also have a M&S credit card which gives points for spending. What I would like to do is make the overpayment with the credit card then pay the credit card with the money in my current account.

Will HSBC allow me to over pay on my mortgage with a credit card?

Thanks,
Richard.

I'd say VERY unlikely. I'm sure it would ring warning bells if HSBC saw you were using credit to pay for credit.

It'll probably be more trouble than it's worth, I'd just pay it from your current account.

Generally no they dont as its debt with debt however you can give it a try (just expect a cash advance fee from M&S)
