Hi,
Not sure if this is in the right thread...
I want a 4 camera kit for my home. What size hard drive would you say is sufficient and what brand would you go for?

+1 on Myser's suggestion, 30 days recording from 4 cameras don't think you will need more than that plus you can transfer the video to a usb stick if you need toI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
I've installed Swann for domestic customers before now when they've wanted something not too expensive and not had any problems or negative feedback.
And the remote access does work really well - interact with the hard drive and playback (or realtime) from another continent with no problems (bandwidth permitting).0 -

The cameras on this kit are only 420 TVL the image quality is not very good. I would go for a better quality camera like 600 or 700 TVL.0 -
Thanks everyone for your advice.
Has anyone had any experience with QViS? An installer came round last night and he said QViS are better than the Xvision DVR and IQCCTV Cameras I was planning to get. The cameras are slightly better but I can't tell what differences there are between the DVR's...

I have a Swann 500gb DVR and 4 cameras installed.
An hours recording with 4 cameras equates to about 800mb, so it will over recorded after about 26 days. Personally that's more than enough for me, but the HD is easy to upgrade if the need arises.
I went for Swann because their Tech Support is excellent and any problems with the kit and you go directly to them and they sort it with you and not via the retailer.
I had a camera fail and they sent me a replacement. I've also contacted them for assistance and found them to be excellent all round. They offer lifetime tech support.
If you are slightly DIY savvy installing yourself is very easy. The hardest part is routing the cabling, but I ran all mine from an upstairs room and through the loft and then out of the exterior walls via the loft space.0
