Abrasive paper does not stay on my sanders - any advice please

I have a detail sander and an orbital sander but have given up trying to use them. The sanding discs are attached by Velcro but not long after fixing on the discs they come off.

Has anyone got any tips on how to rectify this?

I am mystified because if this was common place I cannot imagine the sanders being made. So what am I doing wrong?

Are you sure you are buying the correct sanding sheets for your machines, i.e. hook and loop (Velcro).

If so, then chances are the fixing pad on your machine is worn. If the machines are of good quality then replacement pads should be available as spares.

I have a Bosch 150 RAS and a Fein Multimaster. The sheets still stick like nobodies business even after years of use.

If you have kept the sander in the same place for too long, I think the pad overheats, and I found that the extra heat causes the velcro to "curl up" and not hold the pad. I had to buy a new sander but if yours is expensive, maybe you can buy a spare head.
