its never read dvd+ discs, only cd- or dvd-, and it only likes certain brands of dvd- as well. can i update the driver or am i just stuck with this? ta.

It reads DVD-RAM, that's quite unusual.

You could buy a dvd rom drive that would read the disks for about a tenner these days. Or if you dont have a DVDRW drive you can get really good ones for about £20.0
