FTB - Survey Issues - Re-Negotiate?

Hi,
I am in process of buying my first house. I have the homebuyers report back and it has flagged a few issues which were not visible/known prior to having my offer accepted. (summarised from the report)
- Attic room has been partially converted, carpeted and plaster boarded up floor to ceiling. Roof has been replaced in last 15 years with heavy concrete tiles, no additional support has been added to the roof structure. Urgent support required to prevent deflecting of the roof & floor needs urgent repair/upgrade as unsafe.
- Chimney stack removed on 1st floor, no additional support has been added to support the chimney going into the roof space. Urgent support required.
- Damp found in front room. Could be caused by cracks in render on front of the house, could be failing of the damp proof coursing.
There are quite a few other recommendations but i was aware of these given age/condition of the property, but i wasn't expecting structural issues!
I will be going back round with a reputable builder i know to get costs for attic support/floor and get his opinion on damp - although i know i should get a specialist in...
Am i within my rights to ask for repairs to be done / price reduced for this kind of work??

Do not get repairs done by seller.
Some of these are potentially critical - do you want them done properly, or bodged?
The seller will just want the quickest, cheapest job done so he can sell.
Reduce the price and get the work done yourself so you can manage the quality.
This sounds like some significant work, so only take it on if you are planning a renovation job.0 -
you make a very good point, i'd prefer to get it all done myself to make sure its done properly. and yes im happy to put up with the work, i have 2 weeks off allocated after completion to gut the place & start again!
i guess i'll just have to wait and see what it costs and reduce offer by £xx amount. Presumably get written quotes and send these with a copy of the survey to the EA to forward onto the seller?0 -
If you are going to use the structural faults as a bargaining tool, make sure you get the most expensive quotes you can.0
