Hi Guys, got a problem, started today. Laptop was slow, so, ran all Malwarebytes, spybot, Avast boot scan, ccleaner and reg, nothing showing.So decided to shut it down to reboot, see if it would speed up.
First time I shut it down and re-booted, the screen was black could barely make anything out, although it was working, couldn,t even detect arrow to log on, do anything..Looked at book, and FAQ, said if faded, pressFn+> to brighten screen, as if it had been turned down,deliberately , did this and came ok.for an hour or so;
BUT, just about to shut down and done the same thing, as if screen is darkened and gradually comes back, ok at present, after Fn + > again.
Any advice would be very appreciated.
Don,t know if screen is going, perfect now, but, something is causing it to fade to Black screen of death.
Not stopping Pc working, or getting online, when I can brighten it to see whats what;perhaps if I post a Hijack this , would someone have a look , see if anything there is maliciously turning it down, or do you think it,s screen?:beer:

might be the inverter starting to die, if it's a model that has one...later screens do without and would mean a new screen...check your power options first......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
When you turn the laptop on does it get to the BIOs screen? if not it may be the hard drive thats died..0

.I have just come on, after leaving it on all night, ( not usual), and had to press Fn+> to brighten screen, now its ok.
Seems something is going , may need a new one, it is nearly 8 years old.;;ACer Aspire.5920.
Seemed strange to just go black after re-boot.until I found out how to brighten screen.
Not worth repairing I suppose, being so old? cost as much as a new, one..been a good un.cheers0 -

Don,t know if it has a inverter. do they go just like that, and die completely? IE; no using Fn+> anymore, just a black out.
What do you mean by power options? .
You know me, hear all, then forget it;:rotfl:
sounds like a new one eh, after all your advice over the years for it, it settled down, and was reliable, as pc,s can be.:beer:0
