Before you invest have you got other investments already?

Are they listed on the UK market? I'd be very wary investing in single bank shares even if they were UK based but that isn't one I've heard of so you may want to check them out and their previous track record.

I assumed that this was actually savings, investing ina fixed term bond for example.

If so then check Fscs protection, and if in place then deposits should be covered up to 75k.

I invested in a three year savings bond that is due to mature September this year. Everything has been ok although I noticed last year that no interest has yet been paid. It turns out that my bond pays all interest on maturity, not annually. The amount will be calculated as if the interest was compounded each year, so the amount received will be exactly the same as if interest was paid annually. However for tax purposes all the interest will be paid in 2013/14. It so happens that this will have mess up my tax planning a bit. Its my own fault for not noticing. Just something to watch out for when investing in savings bonds with BofB. Not a criticism.

I have a fixed bond with the UK arm of Punjab National Bank and they do the same with their interest. It is 5 year term but does have annual escape points.
