Word (or text anyway) documents on Ipad.

Please can some kind person tell me if there is a sensible app I can use on my ipad to write text documents - preferably Word-compatible - which I can then export to my pc. There do seem to be some with rather variable reviews so its hard to know which to use ...thank you very much. (doesn't have to be free)

Someone will be along in a moment to suggest Google Docs, this solution relies on having online access though I believe.

Searching the App Store using keywords such as Document and docx brings up say, Office Assistant Pro at £11, this claims to save your docs locally on your iPad and no doubt will allow files to be copied to and fro to a Windows computer via a USB cable.

You could use Pages - It syncs with iTunes on a mac and windows and can save files in the .doc format.

I use my iPad for business, and have Quickoffice Pro, which is excellent. It is £14 for the full package, but worth it IMO.

Dropbox or Google drive fr storing files and moving them on/off your pc. Checkout CloudOn which is full virtualised MS Office - but you need to save to cloud storage. I use Documents to Go as well.

If you are going to buy pricy office apps, keep an eye out for some cheep iTunes vouchers (like the email only ones that Asda direct were doing)
