Deleting stuff from ipad

I am currently having all the Radio 4 dramas downloading onto my ipad (are they podcasts ? having a senior moment) but when i've listened to them I don't seem to be able to delete them. What simple thing have I just failed to understand, I wonder? Could some kind person tell me a) if they can be deleted and b) how I do it?

To delete things in the Music app, either swipe left (if you are viewing things in a list) and tap the Delete button that appears, or hold your finger on the picture (if you are viewing by album etc) and tap the red X that appears.0

Are you using Apple's own Podcast app to manage them? If so, I think you can set some rules about auto deleting them there?0
