Small Automatic

I am thinking of replacing my Astra for a smaller automatic, as my road is a nightmare to park in as I cant get into my drive some nights being such a narrow road.

I am as you guess lousy at reverse parking anyway, and want to know what is the best Automatic (it has to be Automatic) small car that is easy to park.
I hated the sticky semi-auto SMART car and besides I would like a 4 seater.

What are your views on the Amica, Charade, Aygo, Atoz, Matiz or are there any others that are very easy to park and can go on the motorway without causing a ten mile tale back?

Help please!

Not a fan of any of those that you have mentioned, although Hyundai's have a 5 year warranty. Aygos have a MMT transmission rather than a proper auto box so make sure you test drive it as it can be quirky and some drivers just can't get the hang of it or how it operates.

How about a Kia Picanto Auto? The Picanto is well liked by road testers for offering a decent car for its price.

i have an automatic yaris - love it! mine's a 5 door but my cousin used to have a 3 door that was pretty reasonably sized. it's the only automatic i've had (driven some as hire cars but they were all much bigger). it's 4 years old now and nothing has gone wrong with it so far. it's a 1.3l engine and it whizzes up the motorway (OH says i'm not allowed a more powerful car ever :)). i find it has a tight turning circle - the reversing sensors sometimes do my head in with the beeping, but they are optional. The Nissan Micra is said to have the smallest turning circle in its class. I had a 2003 03 automatic 1.2SE until last year and found it an excellent economical and reliable car, especially if you're not that bothered about quick acceleration!

I'm learning to drive in a 1.2 automatic Micra and I like it, the visibility is good and it's easy to park, plus it's been easy to get up and down the streets in my area with cars double parked on both sides. The only downside I would say is it sometimes struggles up steep hills but that might be my driving! :o My elderly father also has one and he says he wished he'd got one years ago, he finds it really easy to drive and it's economical to run.

I am not a great fan of these odd shaped new micras, I like fairly box shaped small cars like the old micra. Still quite fancy the Matiz or Amica, any one drive an Automatic one?
