After going into Cardiff ring shopping , and seeing that the platinum wedding rings that we are after are about £650 compared to £450 online, I was wondering if anyone else had bought their wedding bands online "blind" , any suggestions to good online shop would be great , many thanks

Not used them personally but a company that seems to get good reviews is betts metals.
Buying a ring online can sometimes prove dissapointing...mainly because pictures are over magnified and you dont get the sense of how heavy something is until you actually see it....having said that I have bought jewellery online and never been dissapointed with it.
Always try and opt for a site that has a good returns policy, and make sure you ask for a ring sizer to check the size you need.
Just as a seperate point and its one that might dissapoint some people is that when they receive their rings they may not be hallmarked in the traditional manner...this is because many of the companies do purchase outside the uk and therefore the rings do not need to conform to the uk assay office standards....it doesnt mean that your ring is any different other than it was probably manufactured abroad.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

I bought mine from a wholesale jewellers - do you have any near you - go a plain platinum band for £230 (It's a very thin band - needed it that way to sit with my engagement ring).
Bought my husband's online though but from Ernst Jones as we got a good deal on it - and it was a plain gold ring- and we had already investigatred weights etc.Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -

We used http://www.thebeautifulcompany.co.uk/ for ours, and were very happy with the price and quality.
I got hold of a ring sizer first, but after ordering they sent one out and asked me to confirm our sizes before they'd send the rings. So, it's worth ordering in advance if you use them, rather than leaving it until the last minute (I can't believe there are people that DON'T check their ring size before they order), but even still the delivery didn't take too long.0 -
Thanks for the replies, I will have a look at those companies0

Have a daytrip up to Birmingham next weekend? Under 2hrs drive, visit the jewellry quarter (I bought two platinum wedding bands there, d shaped, pretty heavy for £650!).
Then go have a walk around the town / have a look in Selfridges / go to the Sea Life Centre and say hello to the turtles / have a nice lunch off Broad Street and then potter back down to Wales.
Any excuse for a day outYou had me at your proper use of "you're".0 -

What a lovely idea :j , love the sound of the prices as well. Do you buy them there and then or do you need to order them and come back another day ?0 -
I got mine from havalazar on etsy.com.. delighted with them.

I got a free ring sizer from one of the other online companies so i could tell my size.
they were fab- email correspondence was very swift and helpful to agree what I wanted.
The prices are good and the rings are fab - v unusual - but remember you will need to pay VAT on the rings because they come from Israel.
(You get a notification from the postal service telling you to log onto the website and pay the VAT and then the package is delivered).
Mine were 2 18ct white gold rings total cost about £600 including the VAT

My other half got mine from Blue Nile and its amazing! they have an app you can download and personalise it yourself e.g. type of metal, diamound quality and you can set it in your own price range. I founf the ring he was going to get me on the app and made some changes before he bought it. We didn't sit down and look at rings / discuss that he was going to propose however when i went nosing on his app thought i would make a few changes as he was there already and he was very appreciative of it in the end as i think every guy goes through 'will she like it' worries!0

They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
