I know this is generally considered to be c**p, but I thought it might look good on my listings. I am eligible for it, but am I right in thinking that you can only sign up if you only take paypal? Or can you sign up, but only use the logo on paypal-only listings? I sell a lot of items to nice middle-aged ladies who prefer cheques so I wouldn't want to make my auctions paypal-only.

Ah. I got confused when I went through the demo 'cause it says "select paypal as your sole method of payment".0

I believe the very limited things it covers are only valid if the method of payment is paypal.0

That's correct, but you can still have the icon as long as paypal is one of your payment options0 -
Could the experienced ebayers out there perhaps lend me a hand? I have started a new business and will soon be selling DVDs online. Does anyone have any advice about the various merits and failings of paypal, worldpay etc? Market research is difficult in this area and I would be most grateful for any observations anyone might like to make - either as vendor or purchaser. Thanks0

I'm sure someone will come along and post all the usual links to www.paypalsucks.com etc. but myself, along with many others, will only buy items through paypal because of the protection it offers.
As a seller I wouldn't be able to make as much money as I do without offering paypal (and yes, that includes their huuuge fees
), and given that you're going into the dvd market, it's a must. I would still advise you to offer other payment options however, but would only really recommend instant ones, and if you're able to accept credit/debit card payments directly that would be handy as well 0 -

Or more specifially, the alternatives section lists a load of other credit card processors. If your new business is not based solely on ebay, and you have aspirations of high volumes then I would consider something other than PayPal. Would be well worth discussing a merchant account with your own bank too.
Ofcourse, for ebay, paypal is a necessary evil. That's not to say that you shouldn't offer alternatives..0
