Insurance for Contract Hire Cars

My ins co said I have to be the registered owner of the vehicle for them to insure me

Which ins co's will insure contract hire cars and is it the same price as insuring a vehicle owned by yourself

    If you're in a contract hire car then surely it is run as a company car by a business? ...so your employer would be insuring you to drive it on their company policy?

    Not many insurers will provide a standard policy if you aren't the registered owner.

    I work for an insurance company on a self employed basis andam registered as self employed, but am not vat registered and am looking to get a contract hire vehicle as that looks the cheapest way to get a new vehicle.
