Following on from the style of the parking prankster and having got some flyer attached to the car today after watching star trek (which wasnt really that good)

This is what ive put to a lovely local ppc

Dear Sir
With regards to the invoice attached to my car today
I am not sure how my car arrived at the location it did, having since gained powers to fly on a broom I find it no longer necessary to use a car so am quite perplexed
I can only blame it on our cat who having got bored with coronation street decided to take my wheels out for a spin
Therefore either cancel the invoice or issue me with the relevant Popla code. You may post it or email me directly at ......

You could add 'As you can see, I have tried to word my appeal with as much validity as you have displayed in your fake PCN.' :p
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I would actually advise against submitting frivolous appeals of this nature.

While it might achieve the desired outcome in the short term, the likely result of too many of these is that the PPCs will complain to the BPA, who will then lean on POPLA to revise their terms of reference so that the POPLA appeal can only contain the same grounds as the PPC appeal.

I would also suggest that this type of gloating and triumphalist prose can only assist the BPA, when lobbying Government, to make the case that those fighting against the PPCs are a bunch of "swivel-eyed loons", to quote a topical phrase.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

    I agree.

Courts and even POPLA are serious places and I would want to come over as a serious, well-informed appellant. As has been said before, you only get one chance to make a first impression and frivolous letters put you on the back foot from square one.
  • Sorry I disagree.

Sending of a light hearted appeal to a tin pot ppc who have never taken anyone to court isn't going to change anything

But by doing that, you lose the moral high ground, which is as important as the actual legal points which make up an appeal. By stooping to their level, it becomes a yah-boo insult-hurling match.

whilst it may be fun to send silly appeals I believe you are helping the PPC's more than the motorists, the BPA will (and have justification) say that people are taking the P155 and only offering any real appeal after the PPC has paid out thus not giving them chance to sort at no cost, when dealing with these type of organizations the rule of thumb is "if you have nothing meaningful to say then stay quiet"
