I came across this site http://www.procamerashop.co.uk/, and found out it's not a UK business, but from Hong Kong (:D - I can just imagine how many people got a surprise when they tried to return an item...).

Just wanted to mention it as people sometimes search MSE before making a purchase... well.. don't! :)

(although that's not mentioned anywhere on the website).

    Sure about that?

    One click on their site

    Well worth the warning.

    Thanks.

Pre-arranged returns can be sent to an address in Cumbria. They provide 12 months in-house warranties as opposed to manufacturer warranties so nothing would have to go back to Hong Kong.

I bought a camera from this site. It was much cheaper than I would have paid elsewhere and I had no trouble whatsoever. They also score 9.6 out of 10 on TrustPilot so I hope people aren't put off by terra_ferma's post.

on the contrary, I'm sure that people reading my post may be encouraged to buy from them...
although extremely rare :D...., it's good to be wrong for a change.
If they monitor their online reputation, they may want to make that clear on their return page.

Never assume that a .co.uk website address means it's operated by a UK company.

..and the prize for the most obvious comment goes to..? :D

Some countries are a bit more careful about their domains, and they only allow domestic businesses to use them, the UK should do the same IMHO.

Caveat emptor ! Have a read of all the glowing "reviews" on this site - after a while you can tell exactly what wording is going to appear in the next one.

Also have a look at some of the photography forums - few people have a good word to say about this company - except the glowing reviews..............

They are based in China, claim to have a "UK warehouse" - which turns out to actually be a mail handler near Gatwick !!!

To be a little even handed, some people have had good service - but many haven't. It is when things go wrong that this company falls down. They have no infrastructure in the UK to support what they sell: or what they don't sell if they don't have it in stock.

They have actually threatened several forums with legal action about "unfair" reviews, the threads have been removed to avoid legal costs - draw your own conclusions..............

Read this thread quickly before MSE gets a threatening letter from their lawyers :rotfl:

If it was that obvious why didn't you exercise some diligence before making the purchase?

    Hi,

Well I have used them - found them cheaper than elsewhere & the camera was delivered in about 3 days - from what I remember you could save 3% by paying in cash - I paid by cc to protect myself.

  • There is another thread on this seller on these forums. (just type in procamerashop dot co dot uk

Another reviewer posted yesterday on the review centre ("bought 4 cameras, 3 lenses. 3 lenses & 3 cameras fine....1 NOT!) about his latest purchase having nowhere near 0 clicks, on his supposed new camera, when he received it.

Looks like they've gone now anyway, so hopefully no one else will get stung by these cowboys.
