Hi, I have been contacted by the local council as i'm chairperson of the estates residents association. They have sent us flyers regarding energy switching by using an auction method with the company called ichoosr.
1. Can anyone throw some light on the company other than the description and good press they give themselves?
2. Has anyone actually used this company ?
3. Would it be worth my time and effort to pass this information on to other residents?
I'm naturally sceptical about these so called comparison sites and anyone else that instantly says they can save you money, I wouldn't put it past the local council to be making something from this so called switching company.

I would be much better pointing your residents to this MSE article

They won't get any better prices any other way ... but possibly much worse if they don't.0 -
Its worth noting on these collective switching schemes that somebody is taking a commission for everybody that switches. I contacted Which! and ichoosr directly. According to Which! they only take a commission to 'cover costs' (not sure how much cost is incurred from what seems to be quite an automated process, but there you go).
When we worked out out most recent 'saving quote' from a collective switch scheme with ichoosr. We worked out it would actually be more expensive. They get away with things because they 'estimate' everything. Even though you supply them accurate figures. But it all initially looks good.
In my opinion I think basically companies are making a lot of money from these schemes. Not sure the consumer is actually winning in this instance. I think they are leading people on by offering an easy way to switch and estimating a saving, that may or may not be true. It wouldn't surprise me if this is a future mis-selling scandal waiting to outed. My two cents..0
