in Credit cards
I have applied for my first ever credit card. I have banked with HSBC for last ten years. Am in a secure job for last 6 months earning 28.000 before deductions plus around 2,000 bonus annually.
I have no other debts, no loans, equifax and Expedia both showing green and excellent.
I chose HSBC as the obvious as I alerted hold a current account and savings account with them, in my accounts I have about 5,000 cash.
The only other debt I have is a arranged 1,000 overdraft on Halifax account which I kept for emergency I am currently using 600 of this 500 overdraft as I recently purchased a television with this account.
This will be cleared in next 2 weeks.
I am aged 24 so I still oa student loan each month.
I applied on Thursday, today got a message saying call HSBC to check a few details.
They said my pa stated and my pay entering account don't match up.
I wrote 30,000 on my application based on salary and bonus.
I wasn't aware if this needed to be preor post tax.
After deductions of national insurance student loan tax I have about 22,000 going into account.
I not want a credit card to build up my credit score as I will be applying for a mortgage in the near future.
The small print stated a minimum of 800 going into account each month. I am well above this with more like 1800 after deduction monthly.
Will I be rejected on the basis that i put pre tax Incme rather then post tax??
They have asked me to take my three last pay slips into my local branch which I will do?
Any thoughts or help.
Will my 1,000 overdra on other account affect me?...barng in knd this was 2500 until last week but. Reduced it to 1,000 as I don't use it.
Should I have got for a safer option such as vanquish for first card??
Will it become a black mark on credit file if they reject me.
I also have consistently had a he contraband gym memebrship for last 4 years always settled on time.
Thanks.

Don't worry, you have not done anything wrong. Credit cards normally require the Gross salary not net. If you have a student loan deducted at source from you salary, this would appear that you earn less.
Provide the pay slips to HSBC and wait and see. I personally beielive that you willl be accepted with a credit card.
If you are rejected check the MSE credit card finder, it will carrry out a soft search on your credit file and find the most appropriate card.
Just relax and wait.....It will be fine!0 -
