Car Insurance company wants more money 11 months after quote

Hopefully someone can give me some advise on this one and from a legal stand point or SALE OF GOODS ACT perspective.
My wife took out car insurance in 2011 and was quoted a price and we paid. 9 months after the contract was taken out we got a letter form them saying "we made a mistake and we should have charged you more" The amount was £45. My wife has worked for insurance companies in the past and in her experience the company would not chase for more money after the price was set.
£45 isnt a problem for us to pay but its more about the principle. We are still getting letters and emails form them wanting us to pay up and the latest stating they will pursue by "Passing to a debt recovery agency". This is now why I am post here for any advice someone can give based on knowledge of SALE OF GOODS ACT etc. If this is going to get messy for £45 we will just pay up but wanted to know if anyone has any pearls of wisdom.
Thanks for any advise

don't think the sales of good act applies to insurance0

I would pay up UNDER protest to protect your insurance history and credit files.
Then start a formal complaint.
If it goes beyond a first response it will cost them more to fight you.0 -

Quite often, such requests for extra money are to do with non-disclosed convictions or the like that they have now discovered.0 -
Pay up as under protest as already said, and start the formal complaints procedure.
You need to deal with the insurance company in writing sending your letters by recorded delivery. (The extra cost is to stop them pretending they haven't received your letter.)
Your letter should have the title "Formal Complaint" on it and if you need to send a second one mention that:
1. You want their final response
2. Your next course of action will be to take them to the Financial Ombudsman Service, FOS.
I don't know what your circumstances are for them to increase the insurance premium but if they are "unfair" when you disclosed all facts when the premium was taken out then you need to take the to the FOS.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
