hi there
i have a windows 7 laptop that will not boot at all ( tried all options), i read a while ago you can download a Linux boot cd, (burn the iso to disc) boot from that then drag the data to a usb drive.
i would like to be able to access the contents on the hardrive and move them to a usb stick, is that possible using such a boot cd as above?
can some one please recommend the best software to download to this. thank you

when you install it, you can either save the iso to the hard disk, and use the imgburn write image to disc function http://www.imgburn.com/, or as write directly to disk using the installer.!!

thanks everyone, not sure which to go for , just want the easiest to boot from cd/dvd, to see the hardrive then plug a usb stick in and copy the data to that0

external hard drive is always safer than a usb stick if it's your only copy
what happens when you try to boot, what make and model is it!!

the boot corrector may help with the W7 boot problem, depending on what it is.
something to alleviate future problems

many thanks, i assume with the above software , you take an image of your computer , then if you can not boot no more , you load the image from disc , and you are back at the point of time you made the image? , many thanks0

yes, it makes a perfect backup of everything, to an external image file, create the boot cd, then you can get a machine fully working as it was at the time of the backup!!
