Cheap Energy Club
Hello,
I'm new to the Forum.
I used the Cheap Energy Club (CEC) website earlier this week to start switching to a new energy provider.
Everything appeared to go well with the website application, but I did not receive an email confirmation and my CEC account has not updated to show that I am in the process of switching providers.
If my CEC account does not log that I'm switching, I don't know how I will get the £30 cashback for using the service.
I phoned the helpline at Money Supermarket (providers of the web facility) and they said to email the CEC helpline... I did and got the response:
"Hi
Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately we can't reply to every email. If you've emailed us about a tariff not listed, we'll be looking into it. For other queries try having a look at the FAQs (not allowed to post link) "
Not very helpful!
I recently Tweeted the MSE website Team and Martin, but haven't heard anything back yet.
On the bright side, I phoned the new energy supplier and they say they have received my application.
My son signed up to a new energy provider a few days earlier than me and his CEC account updated and he received a confirmation email almost instantly.
Does anyone know how I can contact someone at MSE / CEC to get my account sorted out?
Thank you

Yeah I have also switched via the Cheap Energy Club to get £45 cashback (supposedly) but have heard nothing. No confirmation email, no indication on the Cheap Energy Club website. How are we supposed to know that everything went through smoothly?
EDIT: I just called Scottish Power, they haven't received any application. How long is it supposed to take for the utility company to receive the application from the Cheap Energy Club?0 -

I thought you were already supplied by Scottish Power

Me likewise. I have twice in the past week attempted to switch. Input all the relevant details and finally the website displays a message something like - your account will be updated in a few minutes. Go to your account.
All very disappointing. I have been expecting some confirmation that the switch has been activated but nothing to date and whenever I log In I get the original message telling me how much I could save and showing me with my existing supplier.
How on earth do I switch?
Useless emailing because the response is we cannot deal with all emails.
DISAPPOINTING AND RUBBISH!!0 -
Not in my new property, I have to switch (although I can keep my old tariff once the switch is complete).I thought you were already supplied by Scottish Power

As Techie says, it just doesn't seem like the Cheap Energy Club website does anything when you try to switch suppliers. It even logs you out once you've filled in the form, and when you log back in you just get exactly the same screen as before.
If MSE representatives don't reply to this thread or my email then I'll have to go through MoneySupermarket instead (and get £30 cashback instead of £45).

I have also switched supplier via Cheap energy club but it's been just over 2 weeks now and I've not heard anything except the initial email from CEC. Has anything actually happened? Should I switch again?
I hope an MSE rep can let us know what's going on here???0 -
I just received an email from Cheap Energy Club, so at least that's something.
matt7, I would suggest calling your new supplier and asking if they have your application on record or not. That's what I will do once it's been a few days.0
