Bathroom to Corridor

Hello All

Just a quick question that I hope you can help with...

I have been to look at a lovely house today - well it was nice but the kitchen joined onto a wetroom directly. There was no corridor between, where there was a 'pantry / utility room' then have removed the door and placed the cooker & fridge in there. This means that you can be stood at the cooker and through the room directly to your right you are in a wetroom with shower and toilet.

Now, I seem to remeber that all toilets had to come off a corridor - is this right or did i dream it somewhere?

I have searched the forum, and internet but cannot find anything!

I hope you can help!

Dan

That's old rules - and was amended some years back I believe. Not sure if there's supposed to be a sink in the loo room though, that might be a requirement.

Yes, there is a sink too..! But I was hoping that you couldnt do this anymore so they would have to look at the kitchen again - is there anywhere I could find out definitivley? The LA was not sure, which is also a worry!

Ring up your local building control and ask them to confirm. However it is well known that there is no longer the need for a lobby between WC and kitchen has

There used to be a requirement for a "ventilated lobby" between a kitchen and a bathroom.
    But since 2000
"Part G only requires that a WC and/or associated handwashing facilities should be separated by a door from a food preparation area. In dwellings, a lobby is not needed, as illustrated in diagrams 2 and 3 in AD G."

So yes, the arrangement described meets current regulations. Whether it did when it was put in is another matter.
