Oven temps

My missus has been complaining that our oven never cooks stuff inline with the guidelines on the pack, 25mins in fan oven at 190c for eg.
Bought an oven thermo and she's right.
Double oven, both fan assisted, both kick out if set to low temp as if to indicate all is up to temp;)
No where near, oven up on full in top unit, should be over 200c, won't show over 150 on the gauge, bottom oven too seems under by 25%.
Theremometer is correct at zero, will boil shortly to get an indication of higher level accuracy.
Must go, dinner should be burning.;);)

Never had an oven yet that had an accurate dial.
Mrs G is a 'by the book' recipe follower and she burnt no end of stuff because she believed the lies etched on the oven knobs. In the end I bought her an oven thermometer and the black smoke has cleared.0 -

The temperature couplers in most domestic ovens are pretty basic and far from accurate, I've only considered them as being in 4 steps - cool, warm, hot and very hot!0

if you have a boat level, put it inside & see if it is level both ways, it does make a differenceI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0
