Laptop WIFI conflict?

Hi
My girlfriend's laptop (Win7) connects to our wifi (Netgear ADSL modem/router) and she can browse the web no problem...
Until I connect my laptop (Ubuntu) to our wifi. Her laptop immediately times out on all websites, with the browser reporting connection or DNS problems. Her wifi signal is still strong and connected, just no traffic. My laptop can see the web fine and the minute I switch mine off, she can browse again.
The first thing I thought was an IP conflict, but both laptops are set to obtain IP automatically. Mine reports 192.168.0.8, hers reports 192.168.0.4.
If she connects her laptop to the router by ethernet cable, the problem goes away (her ethernet connection gets IP 192.168.0.7).
Various other devices (phones, Kindle) can browse the web no problem when my laptop is on - it's just her laptop that fails.
There's clearly still some kind of conflict, but I can't think how/where? Any advice appreciated

Maybe the wifi channel is just getting too busy, even a neighbours video sender or such can raise noise levels and if your laptop is pushing out a lot of wifi power maybe its just too much for hers to get through..
In your router settings its probably on auto, try manually picking channels and see if that helps.0
