I was suggesting an industrial grade tower scaffold Bri.I did post a link, may be worth a look. They are BS quality with a weight rating of nearly 1000kg so hardly flimsy Bri.

Trouble is these days we have far too much health and Safety bullsh*t which sadly has create a lack of common sense.

Trimming the tops out of a 12ft hedge should not be beyond anyones capability with the use of common sense.

Here you go Bri...fill ya boots.

I'm with you on something like that, but from a practical and cost point of view, to have one of those, even on hire isn't the best option.
Problem is that you set it up, cut a couple of yards then have to relocate it, then, ooops missed a bit so.....;)you get my drift.

I have hedges to three sides of my property so it's a considerable amount of hedge, luckily it's privet. They were 8ft high when we took over, I chainsawed them back to 6ft and have kept them there, ok, some loss of privacy maybe be the ease of being able to cut the lot on foot is a fair trade.
PS I have a 4ft square scaffold tower in the garden shed, it's staying there it's just too much hassle;);)

Anyway, I think the op realises the safety issues now.
I will add that I had a near miss whilst trimming the hedges last year. Although the tool has a quick stop arrangement, I managed to clip my leg after bringing the clipper down from arms length.

Nasty bruise and 3 stiches to fix it. Take care, I obviously didn't:A:A
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Yep, thanks for the advice. I think we've decided to go with a long-reach petrol trimmer from the ground after all - one with trimmer attachment and with a saw attachment. The latter particularly I will be hiding from hubbie because I know I couldn't trust him to always wear the proper gear and be careful when using it.
