Ppi claim whilst on a dmp

I have been successful on a ppi repayment reclaim whilst on a dmp which has come at a very needed time as things at the moment are really tough (partner self employed and work has been extremely limited over the last few weeks). My question is, I do want to pay a lump sum to my dmp, but also want to be able to keep some to do some much needed decorating, new washing machine etc, not being greedy but really do need to replace many items in the home. The money would be wisely spent as I am a budget queen to the max and i wouldn't fritter it away on lots of rubbish. To have some money behind me would take away so much stress.
Any thoughts and advice would be much appreciated.

If the money is coming from somebody you have not repaid, you can expect them to put it toward any money they have written off first, then any arrears.

Only after that can you expect to see any money.
  • they have sent a cheque, i am too scared to touch it in case they ask for it back! so worried about it, really need advice on whether i can keep some of it and pay some onto dmp. when i spoke to lloyds about the refund, the chap asked me if i wanted to pay some off onto my loan, he quoted half of it and the rest was mine to do with as i pleased as they were more than happy with my payments being made every month without fail.

If they have sent a cheque then more fool them and you are free to use it as you wish.

I can't see any of your creditors being annoyed at getting a little bit extra one month. I bet some people wouldn't even bother letting the DMP know they've got a bit extra money!
People need washing machines and necessities like that and when things are tight, those are the last things we spend money on so I say get your household items and pay a bit extra to the creditors too.

You can do what you like with it if they've sent it to you.
