Cannot be more irritated with the Santander ZERO card

Maybe one of the people who work in the Credit Card industry will be able to let us know how long it takes for a credit card account to be completely closed to new transactions.
Well a closed account can be reopened when a transaction is processed by a retailer.
So in effect NEVER.
Reality is after the last card has expired. Although a retailer can still push a transaction through.Perhaps CPAs should be terminated when an account is closed, as customers can end a CPA by contacting their card provider.
Which would be a great idea.... Except for one thing. A CPA is a agreement between customer and company. Unlike a DD the card provider receives no notification of a CPA.
The onus in on the card holder to know who they have set these up with.
Its amazing the number of people who call and say cancel ALL my CPA's. Only to get shirty when you tell them... Well who are they too, as only you know :rotfl:Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

That's definitely something that should be tightened up on.dalesrider wrote: »Which would be a great idea.... Except for one thing. A CPA is a agreement between customer and company. Unlike a DD the card provider receives no notification of a CPA.

You've previously mentioned that CPAs should be 'tagged' as such, however you also mentioned that's always done.
I think credit cards should be closed completely within six months. That should give retailers enough time to push transactions through.
And if a CPA hasn't been been set up and 'tagged' as such by then it should be treated as new transaction and rejected.0 -

Yes the transaction is tagged as a CPA.
But it is not listed against the account in the same way as a DD is.
So unless you looked through every transaction then a card provider would never know. Add in some retailer do not tag them.
What about yearly payments such as car ins etc.
Personally I think once a account is closed ALL transactions should be bounced back to the retailer. if that means that the card holder gets chased to court, then that is their problem.
For once I think we are singing from the same hymn sheet :rotfl:Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
What's a CPA please? I looked at the acronyms thing on google but there are hundreds of them - Certified Public Accountant, Construction Plant-hire Association, Crop Protection Association...0
