When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. :D

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free. :T

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Morning all,

Where's the sunshine gone? Today I am determined to remain positive despite everything going on around me. OH and I are going shopping and trying to get as much as possible for as little as possible. Now where are my coupons?! Tesco Clubcard vouchers have just arrived: £4.50.

Today I will:
  1. Do OnePoll, Ipsos and Adpoints.
  2. [STRIKE]Read newspaper online. [/STRIKE]
  3. [STRIKE]Check bank accounts. [/STRIKE]
  4. [STRIKE]Change library books. Return DVD within time limit to avoid fine.[/STRIKE]
  5. Listen to story tape from Back-Of-The-Cupboard. When we moved house we found about a hundred(!) story tapes and talking books on DVDs in the back of a cupboard. That my (dyslexic) OH had bought cheaply to "listen to one day" but had never touched. We sold fifty of them before we moved and there's still enough here to entertain us for weeks.
  6. [STRIKE]Jobhunting etc...[/STRIKE]
  7. OH to start the compost bin. We can't keep buying the stuff, it's costing a fortune.

    Good morning! (Just)

I've been quite productive already this morning. As usual my weekend is more of a to-do list, which I will do as cheaply as possible!

    - Checked banking, no change
    - Mr t's shop, using Vouchers and coupons Saved £10.25
    - Shower and hair wash
    - Put £10 fuel in OH's car while he fixed mine (AGAIN!)
    - Made Key Lime Pie for girlie night tonight
    - HC on line, more to go out in a bit!
    - Take DD to nursery reunion party at 2pm, 2 hours to myself, will do my housework at this point
    - Add £20 diesel to my car, this must last me the rest of the month!
    - Take food to OH's house after dropping DD at her dads so he can cook me dinner :D
    - Nip to Lidls in my 2 hours to get cheap alcohol for tonight
    - Hunt down the sides of recliner chairs for "treasure" before they go to charity
    - HOUSEWORK!

Don't think I'm going to get a lot more done today
    Jx
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!

    Afternoon ladies

Ally - thanks for starting us off

Well a productive morning. Bought OH a new wallet for leather wedding anniversary (20% off today in Debenhams). Got his shoe fixed (only £2.50). And got the new mifi dongle...

    Yeeeeeeees....

Turns out that my pc might not actually be wifi enabled. At least, I certainly cannot make the pc find the connection. Def not the mifi dongle as my phone found it no problem. Have to say it didn't even cross my mind that such a thing would be necessary :o Feel rather foolish right now.

    Anyway:

Got OH to drop me in town this morning on his way to work (saves bus fare)

    Check online banking

Housework (must do this although don't want to!)

    B/L/D from stores

OH playing a wedding tonight so earning money for once :D

    Might do some batch cooking

Collect water from dehumidifier for watering garden

Try to save water and electricity

Sort out the huge pile of holly branches we cut down yesterday.

That's enough for one day. have a good one guys.

You can see if you have a wireless card. Click Start > Right click My Computer > Click Manage > Under System Tools click the + next to Device Manager> Click the + next to Network Adapters. If one of them says Wireless, then you do. If not, you don't.

My OH had to buy one of these. You just plug it into the USB port and leave it there and it'll let you access your WiFi. (Link)

Hi all, not long been up from might shift and about to go to work again. I need to put diesel in my car to get there but other than that will not have spent any money as been sleeping.

Things are getting really tight and tonight is my last shift in then off until Thursday so will really have to try to find things to do on my days off that don't cost any money !

    Hi everyone,
    Today's money-saving activity....well there's been a bit:
*Did the final grocery shop before payday & came in below budget. Bought a tube of Polyfilla (Mr f turned into Mr Fixit overnight) plus a chicken for freezer towards June's meals with the leftover money & still had a couple of quid left. Pleased with that, but aiming for lower spend next month to free up money for other things.
*Didn't buy bread as got loads of flour in, so baked bread rolls instead.
*Got most of our fruit & veg from local market for £9. They've started doing those bowls of mixed fruit, choose any one for £1. The one I bought contained 1 apple, 7 tangerines, 1 avocado, 1 mango, 1 sharon fruit, 1 banana & 2 plums all for just £1.
*Had a free cup of coffee with loyalty card......instantly cancelled out saving by spending it on a cake, but at least it was one between us, which helped the diet too (another 1lb off this week).
*No frivolous spending in town this morning....just a reel of thread & a stitch unpicker.
*Cut my dress out. Free pattern from Prima mag.....just paid postage. Fabric was £12 from market stall. Am a good knitter but am less than competant dressmaker, but so far, have only had 1 strop. (Haven't actually sewn anything yet, though, lol!)
*A night of free entertainment as we are drinking v nice bottle of wine that was given to Mr f (by someone who clearly doesn't buy it from Aldi, like we do) & are planning to have a Eurovisionfest & apply our usual scoring system. I hate cheesy pop, but admit I do like a bit of Bonnie Tyler.
*Did a few surveys & sent off for another £30 Debenhams voucher from Toluna. In fact, must chase the last one, as it seems to have been a long time, even by their standards.
Think that's it for me. Hope everyone is having a peaceful weekend (or a wildly exciting one, if that's what you prefer!)

That's not for WiFi. It's the adapter you would plug in a hard line cable to go online if you didn't have access to a wireless signal.

You may be able to get a WiFi adapter slightly cheaper than the one I suggested if you hunt around.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all

Well my predictions were correct. We had the best day today takings wise since we began trading last year. I am so on a high right now. If anyone had told me a month ago I'd be feeling this happy tonight I'd have grabbed them and kissed them on both cheeks. Seriously the ups and downs of start up life are not to be taken lightly.

With 7 days till OH gets paid, and having managed to pay myself finally after 2 months with pretty much naff all, I'd say we'll make it to the month end and be able to start pushing down on these credit card debts in June after a bit of a crappy performance in April & May on that score. Onwards!
