Buyers incentive and headstart with agent- help

After speaking to estate agent (b*rn**d m*r**s) yesterday I've decided that I will have meeting with their mortgage guy (a while back not to bother but i see this agent sells a lot of good properties and would like to increase my chances of finding home)just so then they put me in their head start program so I'm told of properties they get on books. I asked EA if I have to go with their mortgage offers but she said its just meeting on what best offers out there and no commitment but then she said I should bring 3mth bank statement, is that normal?
Also she mentioned that they sell a lost of their properties with £1,000 buyers incentive in which u have to use their solicitors. I already had solicitor in mind which is based in same area I'm looking as they will have local knowledge whereas these ones EA use are in other city of UK. Are these incentives any good as I kind of feel that things will be in EAs and not my control during buying process.
Is it worth?

I wouldn't. They will put you in the direction that suits them, not you. They get big fat commissions from making you use these services and ultimately don't care about the process for you.First home purchased 09/08/2013
