O/S Daily Saturday 18th May

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning Halight and all who follow,

Dh has had to take the dogs out without me this morning as I still have the dreaded lurgy with throbbing head and aching joints :( I'm afraid I 'll have to be a spectator at our usual Saturday morning 5km parkrun rather than take part or they might have to call first aid:rotfl:

Quietish day planned, need to do some shopping for my Mum and would love to get to allotment to drop the last of the potatoes in some holes if Dh is up to digging them. Otherwise will take it steady.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend

    Morning :hello:

Had quite a productive day yesterday. We have two days free use of a professional carpet cleaning machine (just had to pay for the cleaning fluid) so the carpets and sofas have been cleaned. I washed the removable covers in the machine, hope they haven't shrunk on the line :D

A local-ish wool shop has started selling my favourite yarn, so I nipped in to check their prices. I usually order from a company online, although the yarn is cheaper, by the time you add on delivery charges it's 6p per ball more expensive. So cute little shop has a new customer :D

Our life assurance runs out in July, so we went to see a IFA. Can sleep well at night, knowing I'm worth a lot more dead than alive :rotfl:

I only caught the end of the news, but I think Morrison's are teaming up with Ocado to do online shopping :T

Maisie Chick has gone broody, cleaning out their shed is a pain atm, she shrieks at me for daring to go in then grumbles with a really deep voice. Bit like me with PMS :rotfl:

  • Good morning everyone :)

Pouring down rain overnight and this morning and it's forecast to last for the weekend.

Was sick of seeing our dirty car last night and having seen the weather forecast, I decided to give it a good soaping and let the rain do the rest. It won't be perfect but it will be a lot cleaner and it was free.

I do this with our patio stone too. Buy a real good patio cleaner for 99p in HB or B&M, distribute it all over the stones, give it a rub in with a yard brush and then let the rain do its work. If we get a break in the rain this weekend, that and some weeding is on my to do list.

Chicken, pancetta and broad beans for dinner. No idea what is for lunch but it will be out of the store cupboard or the fridge, I am not spending any money until Tuesday at the earliest.

DH will be marking all weekend. I need to help DD get some paint, curtain rails and curtains for her house.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Good Morning x
Tru - Im also excited about Morrisons using Ocado technology. They start in January 2014:T:T:T

Really rubbish day yesterday. My youngest son is far more ill than I realised but he talked to me for the first time and I managed to organise some help very quickly on a Friday afternoon so that is a positive. My eldest son thought his interview went ok so fingers crossed. It looks like he is coming back to his home town to live so I am very pleased about that and the situation is currently stable.

So shopping today and hopefully baking this afternoon with help from OH.

Hester - glad you are feeling better after copious amounts of Hestering :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning everyone,

Molly Hugs for you and for your DS, really glad that he is talking to you.

    Alfsmum Get well soon.

Halight Think it is going to rain here as well.

LW I went out collecting ChristianAid envelopes yesterday and met a gorgeous cocker spaniel called Toby.

Julie Great news about your op date (sorry, I know you told us ages ago but I am a bit behind this week).

I have a quiet day today at last and I am going to try to tidy the house a bit whilst keeping the revising children happy.
Got to wake DS for work in a minute and fetch DD2 from a sleepover later but I think that is about it for today.

HM lasagne for tea tonight, yum!

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning all,

Bit overcast here this morning, meant to brighten up later though, tomorrow we are due rain, so need to get all the washing done today.

Popped into asda yesterday as we were passing and got dd some new undies, need to get her a few more sets, but its a start.

Dinner tonight will be the pasta pesto from last night, so quick and easy, I am going to see my dear dad later on, and help him with his lunch.

OH gone to the boot sale, and I am going to run dd to work, then have a shower.

Need to phone the doc on monday I have a pea sized lump come up in my ear which is really sore, its been growing for a few days, so if its not gone monday I shall get an appointment.

Very excited about morrisons doing delivery :T, I cant abide shopping of any kind, its a real chore for me, so I have it delivered every week :o, I love morrisons, so this would be great for us :T

have good days all, and hugs to beth, and anyone else who needs one xx

    Morning all
We've been up for ages but I've only just had chance to log on as I've been helping hubby in the garden whilst it's still sunny.
Molly, so sorry to hear about your son.
I'm still trying to get my head round the idiot at work who is causing my problems, something needs doing, but don't know what.
I'm popping out to DGC's school fete later, I hope it stays dry for them.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

We slept in until 9.30 which is very unusual, must have needed the rest.
Very dull and overcast as if it may rain so wash will go on the airers.
Spent the evening practising my crochet. I need to learn how to hold the tension properly. I think because I'm self taught I tried to initially use a knitting kind of hold but it mucks up the tension. It's hard work but I'm determined to do it properly so I can make lots of pretty baby things.:)
Dh is decorating the downstairs loo today and I shall be his assistant, which means sitting on the couch resting my leg and shouting instructions:rotfl:
Operation fish tomorrow, all three of Oscars fish have passed on, have no idea why, so grandad has taken them to the vet and will be returning them on Sunday (hopefully we can find three similar:eek:)
In other news fell against the wooden bed last night and banged my other knee, one big cut later I am limping on both sides lol no Hestering or swinging from the chandeliers involved:rotfl:
