Trouble with Dell Wireless 1505 draft 802.11n WLAN Minicard

Hi,
following on from my thread the other day: I thought the problem was with my new router, but it doesn't appear to be a problem with my other computers. This card gives a download rate of only about 0.25mbps (should get c. 20mbps, do on others thru same router), but the upload speed tests at 1.1mbps still.

Anyone any knowledge how I could solve this issue?

Ta
Friendly greeting!

Are you certain it is connecting to your router not someone else's? And does it have an antenna which is at the back of the PC it may be not getting much of a signal, move the PC so the antenna has a clear direct of line sight of your router. I believe you can get an extension antenna for those.

  • Hi,
thanks for the thoughts but neither of those are the problem. I changed the SSID myself so I know its mine, and the laptop connected perfectly to my old router from the same location. Though I did indeed try being right next to the router too, but no dice...

PErhaps try setting it to 802.11G only, some router/cards get really messed up if one is mixed mode, worth a try at least
