Student Finance and Joint Accounts

I'm trying to fill out the forms to support my son's application for Student Finance and am a little confused how to record interest from joint savings accounts. I understand that myself and my husband need to complete separate forms for our wages, but how do we declare interest on a joint bank account? Do I divide it and put half on each form? Do I put it all on one form? I'd rather not ring the "helpline" for advice - tried that for another issue and after an hour, all I'd managed to do was inflate my phone bill :wall: :)

If it were me I would just put the interest down as for one of you but so saying it wouldn't be wrong to divide it and put half on each form. At the end of the day you are declaring the interest one way or another and not trying to conceal it so I wouldn't worry about it tbh. Either way if it helps your concerns you could send them a covering letter just to clarify what you have done.

I always halve any joint income interest and for the past 4 years of doing this, it has been fine without any covering letter. :)

Thank you both for that - it's our first time navigating these muddy waters and I don't want to give them cause to hold things up.
