There is no such thing as the "cheapest of all providers"; if there were we would all be with them and there would be no need for MSE Martin to publish reports advising you to use a comparison site

Is this the fixed deal that ends in April 2014?

If so, I believe that it has been offered to those currently enjoying the juicy old fixed rate which ends at the end of July.

Had they not offered this "interim" deal then the increase would have been over 20% by going over their standard Pioneer tariff.

This new deal offers a tempered increase of about 15% which I reckon has been offered to stop people jumping ship and claiming the £200 or so that BG and the like are offering old customers to come back.

I have compared this new tariff to several main players and it is marginally cheaper than EDF's blue tariff due mainly to the lower fixed charges.(Based on my region/usage)

npower do a deal where you can fix for 3 years which I think is the longest I've ever heard of.

Price Fix September 2016 I think it's called. No tie ins either.

same here too. there is 1 cheaper by about 14£ sainsburys but it is variable rates so not worth the risk.
  • Any exit fees?

There is a £30 per fuel early cancellation fee on all Co-op Energy fixed tariffs according to their T&C's

EDF and Scottish Power's fixed deals have no such anti-competitive T&Cs, I understand. Which is weird given their 'non-co-operative' principles. The energy industry has gone mad....

This new Co-op Fixed tariff to 30 April 2014 is for people already on the Fixed tariff which expires 31 July 2013. The deadline for taking up their offer is tomorrow, Tues 11 June.

What they don't say in the emails, but do say in the small print on the bottom of the 'personalised quote' page on their website, is:

"If you would like to register for our new fixed tariff, you must do so by Tuesday 11 June 2013 at the latest. You can change your mind and subsequently cancel and there will be no penalty if you do this before 31 July 2013." [My emphasis.]

Co-op Energy really don't do themselves any favours by not making this more obvious - until I noticed that yesterday I was thinking that I was being forced to opt for the new tariff and commit to it 7 weeks in advance but in reality that's not the case.

I may still switch to EDF - same annual price but takes me through 2 winters not just one - that new Co-op fix is a bit short.
