Help! Fitting MFI Wardrobe - Skirting

I'm fitting a series of MFI wardrobes into a corner of a room. I want them to fit close into the wall so think removing the skirting might be the best idea. I'm going to tackle this with a fine toothed hand saw.
All I worry about is if the skirting is fitted too close to the wardrobe will the door open? In addition, leaving it too far away will look rubbish. Any ideas?

Rather than do that (which could cost you if you move the robe in future) is to put a thin scribe panel up the side of the robe cut over the skirting board and then caulk to the wall.
This will also give clearance to open the door - it only needs to be 25mm wide or so and could be in finish to match the robe or painted / papered to match the room. You could caulk any gap left (great if your wall is not true)
Screw fix a small batten to the side of the robe (inset the thickness of the scribe plus a couple of mm) Fix this batten from the inside so you are screwing through the MDF / Chip into proper wood and then you can simply use something like no more nails to fix you scribe panel to the batten.
Good luck
