I think you are the first person I have heard who has managed to get money back out of Tivium. I am currently trying to get a refund for my mother in law who has paid her £299 and not heard anything further. She has reported the company to the police fraud squad and continues to try to get her money back.ladyandchloe wrote: »Has anyone had dealings with a company called Tivium Ltd from Gateshead who say they are Green Deal Assessors. I cancelled my assessment just a few days after I parted with a cheque for £299 and had been waiting months for my money to be returned. I eventually took them to the Small Claims Court and got my money back MINUS the £35 court fee which they are obliged to pay. So I have threatened them with taking them back to court. I have reads lots of complaints about this Company - I don't even think they are a registered Green Deal Assessor. Watch out!0

I had a green Deal asesment ,my boiler had completely broken down,i had boiler cover with N Power who said the part for my boiler no longer existed,i rent my property from my ex-partner,i decided i should see if i could get help replacing the boiler im on a low wage and receive tax credits,i had the asesment done a week or so later after using a link via N.Power, take into consideration i earn less than £15,000 i am a single parent of a six year old with no heating and no hot water, broken down dg units throughout the house i received a call for the company i was readdressed to by N.Power saying they would do the boiler but it would cost me £1200 upfront and that i was not eligable for new windows, firstly if id had £1,200 in the first place i would not have been asking for help in the first place,i asked if i could pay it back as a loan i was told i had to provide the cash up front...in the end i decided to check the "ireplacable"part on the internet just in case...i found a part contacted a local engineer and had it fitted,i was furious i rang N.Power and they turned round and said that none of the companies they dealt with had the part and that they had cancelled my boiler cover as my boiler could no longer be covered by them because it was not economicly viable,so in the end Green Deal was a waste of time did'nt help me at all,i still need new windows and i still have my old boiler0

I qualified, or I thought I did, for free cavity wall insulation under the British Gas offer. When the assessor came he said because we had a new extension on the back and so only 3 walls would be done we didn't qualify. Also, he advised that under the BG scheme, because we had a new boiler, central heating and windows it was unlikely we would get it as our carbon footprint score would not be high. So BG are penalising you if you are already making strides to be efficient.
Good thing is that I had a cold caller at the door representing Mark Group and I'm already booked in for cavity walls in a few weeks. All free and they only stipulate that they need to do 50% of your walls.
Don't get why it's different when it's all supposed to be under a grant.
Yet another example of why we should stay away from BG.0 -

Hi Eviebear,
I used to rent my property out and as a landlord I was responsible for plumbing and heating, so the responsibility of repairing / replacing the boiler is down to your ex-partner.
Not sure if you have a proper rental contract with him or not, but even so, he should be responsible. Similarly, the windows are part of the structure and should be his responsibility. These are standard part of rental agreements and as a landlord he should have insurance to cover such things as the boiler.
Even if he is letting you stay there rent free etc, if it is his property then the boiler still remains his responsibility.
As for green deals, again the owner of the property would have to apply not the person renting.Martin (With an I)
