What router....with Virgin cable

My wireless connection is always dropping out, and VM insist the signal is strong. TBF, on wiring up, it does seem better.

I still use an old Belkin Wireless G, and wonder if I should upgrade to N. If so, there seem to be a lot of types of router, that do different things.

I download v little, no films etc., mostly ordinary internet use. There is a laptop in same room as cable input, and a desktop 30 feet away through a wall. Don't want to spend a fortune.

Any recommends please, and also do they set up as straightforward as the Belkin.

Thanks

ask virgin for a free one.

there's no guarantee a different router will cure it.

When I phoned Virgin, they said the router was mine?

You should be on a Superhub by now? Try ringing during the day on a weekday when it's not foreign call centres and you may get someone who actually knows what they're talking about.

I used to have my own router etc, but when they went to superhubs I was given one as the old modem (surfboard or something) doesn't cope with the new speeds.

most isp's have been giving them away free for a long time, they may try to charge you for one, but persistence pays off. haggle a discount while you are at it.

Assuming you only have a cable modem (and this is connected to your router), the Superhub combines the two so it acts as modem/4 way router/WiFi Hub as an all in one.

If you opt for this it most likely will be an FoC upgrade, BUT a new minimum term will apply.

Phone up and say you want to leave, then when they persuade you to stay say that you will stay if they give you a superhub and a discount on the monthly price.
